34 killed by law enforcers last month

Thirty-four people were killed by the law enforcers across the country last month, according to a report by Odhikar, a human rights organisation.Of them, 28 people were killed in crossfire with police and two others in crossfire with Rapid Action Battalion (Rab). Also, 31 people were killed while 879 others injured, 213 arrested and two abducted in political-related violence, said the report, based on the newspaper reports. During the period, a journalist was killed in Khulna, 24 others were injured, five arrested and 36 others received death threats. The report also revealed that 42 women and children were raped last month. Of them, nine were killed after rape. And 13 incidents of acid attacks on women took place during the period. In addition, 12 women were killed over dowry and 21 others tortured. The Odhikar report also revealed that 81 children faced violence and 27 of them were killed during the period. And 12 children were raped, 14 abducted and three arrested. Besides, five children fell victim to trafficking, seven went missing and one received acid-burns.
