Opposition announces agitation plans today

Awami League (AL), left 11-Party, and Jatiya Samajtantirk Dal (JSD) will announce the next course of simultaneous anti-government programmes from separate rallies in the city today.The main opposition AL would hold the rally at Paltan Maidan, 11-Party at Paltan Crossing and JSD at Muktangon. AL has had a string of meetings with its front organisations in the run-up to the Paltan rally. AL activists from Dhaka and adjoining districts are expected to join the rally. AL General Secretary Abdul Jalil in a statement yesterday urged people to join today's programme. Meanwhile, the government has taken tight security measures to avert untoward incidents. A large number of police would be deployed in different parts of the city.
