Tributes paid to Abdul Latif


Rich tributes were paid yesterday to Abdul Latif, noted folk singer, lyricist and language veteran, who died of old age complications in the city on February 26.

A large number of admirers and disciples with flowers gathered on the premises of Central Shaheed Minar to pay their last respect to music maestro.

State Minister for Cultural Affairs Begum Selima Rahman, Awami League leaders Abdul Jalil, Obaidul Quader and Asaduzzaman Nur, Communist Party leaders Manjurul Ahsan Khan and Mujahidul Islam Selim were among others who paid last respect.

Sammilita Sangskritik Jote organised the programme.

Qulkhwani of Abdul Latif will be held at the Shyamoli Party Palace in the city after Asr prayers today.

Relatives, friends and admirers have been requested to attend the qulkhwani.
