A teenage boy, son of an official at the Prime Minister's Office, has been missing from the Ganabhaban Staff Quarters since Wednesday morning when he took away his father's licensed revolver and more than 50 bullets before leaving his home.Thirteen-year-old Mostafir Mahmudul Haider, a class eight student of Residential Model School and College, left for school but did not return till 5:00pm yesterday. He also had Tk 6,500 with him. His father Mozibur Rahman, director 14 (administration) at the PM's Office, filed a general diary with Tejgaon Police Station on Wednesday night. Then the police station alerted all the law enforcers across the city of the incident through wireless. Mozibur Rahman told The Daily Star yesterday that his son is very brilliant and reads a lot of detective books. "He might have been inspired by a role of a detective and taken away the revolver and bullets without thinking of its effect," Mozibur added. During the Eid, he received some money from relatives and spent those on new detective books, his father said. Mozibur and his wife, a principal of a kindergarten school, went to Saudi Arabia to perform Haj and returned on January 30. "Mostafir had unlocked the steel almirah before he went out of the house and took the firearm and bullets probably in his schoolbag," his father said, adding that he also had gone missing once last year.
