Fm Meets Envoys
Bid to keep up relations with Saarc nations

Foreign Minister M Morshed Khan yesterday met with envoys from the other six Saarc nations to prevent any possible deterioration in relations after India withdrew from the 13th Saarc summit, leading to the postponement of the meet.

Morshed met with the envoys to ensure that relations are not radically changed after Dhaka reacted angrily to what it termed was "unacceptable" reasons given by India.

India declined to attend the summit citing the latest political turmoil in Nepal and the 'deterioration of law and order' in Bangladesh.

The foreign ministry offices were in a glum atmosphere yesterday after the summit was postponed only four days before schedule and for the second time in a month and a half.
