World Bank team discusses National Nutrition Project

A World Bank team met the health secretary yesterday to apprise him of its latest findings on the National Nutrition Project (NNP).During their meeting at the secretariat, the WB team led by Joyshree Bala expressed their satisfaction over the progress of the project. "Things are moving in the right direction and we are quite pleased by its progress," a WB official was quoted as saying while exchanging views with the health secretary, AFM Sarwar Kamal, yesterday. Earlier, the project had suffered setbacks due to frequent transfers of officials and vacant posts. Meanwhile, members of the parliamentary standing committee on health have decided to see the activities of the community nutrition promoters (CNP). There are about two lakh CNPs across the country. The committee also expressed their willingness to monitor NNP activities on regular basis. The WB team will submit a detailed report on the NNP activities NNP to the health ministry soon.
