One of them is Shariful Islam, 48, a garment accessories supplier, and the other is 22-year-old Rubel.

A Navana pick-up van knocked down Sharif when he was getting on a rickshaw near the Mouchak Market at around 11:30am.

The rickshawpuller was also injured.

Critically injured Sharif was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where the doctors declared him dead.

In the other incident, Rubel was crushed under the wheels of a bus in front of Suhrawardy Hospital at around 10:30am.

He had been trying to get on the speeding bus but, failing to grip the door handle, fell on the road and went under the rear wheel of the bus. He died on the spot.
