Sumon hattrick steers Kalabagan


A brilliant hattrick by veteran left-arm pacer Morshed Ali Khan Sumon guided Kalabagan KC to a four-wicket victory over Sonargaon Cricketers in the First Division Cricket League which resumed yesterday after a two-week recess for the Eid-ul-Azha and Zimbabwe's tour of Bangladesh.

Batting first at the Bangabandhu National Stadium, Sonargaon were all out for 195 with middle-order batsman Jewel Hossain making 63 off 74 balls.

Former national cricketer Sumon completed the hattrick when he dismissed Jewel, Nasiruddin and Milan in the third, fourth and the fifth balls of the 47th over.

In reply, Kalabagan 196-4 in 44.1 overs with Arman Hossain scoring a polished 84 off 104 balls.

In the day's other three matches, Rupali Bank defeated Wari Club by 50 runs at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium, Young Pegasus B beat Jatrabari KC by five wickets while Nabin Sangha beat Azad SC by four wickets at BKSP.
