Countrywide dawn-to-dusk hartal today

Awami League (AL) and left-leaning 11-Party enforce a countrywide dawn-to-dusk hartal today to protest the killing of AL lawmaker and former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria and four others in the January 27 grenade attack in Habiganj.

Ambulances, newspaper vehicles, drug stores, garbage carrying vehicles and other emergency vehicles will remain outside the purview of the 6:00am to 6:00pm shutdown.

The main opposition AL and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD-Inu) will enforce another non-stop spell of 36-hour shutdown from 6:00am on Saturday.

Earlier, the opposition parties called a 60-hour hartal from Saturday morning in protest against the killings in the grenade attack on Habiganj AL rally, similar to last year's August 21 attack in the capital that killed 23 people.
