More bodies condemn Kibria's killing

More organisations yesterday condemned the killing of former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria and four Awami League (AL) activists in a grisly grenade attack at Boidder Bazar in Habiganj on Thursday evening.The city unit of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh demanded proper inquiry into the killing of Kibria along with all other grenade and bomb attack incidents and punishment to the culprits. The Geneva branch of Bangladesh Awami League held a rally on Sunday to protest the killings. It also held the government responsible for the carnage. Bangladesh Sewing Thread Manufactures and Exporters Association, in a press release, condemned the brutal killings. Sammilito Peshajibi Parishad, a forum of engineers, held a protest rally in the capital condemning the grenade attack. Sammilito Nari Samaj expressed deep concern at the grenade attack and demanded immediate arrest and trial of the culprits. Civic Watch Bangladesh, at a meeting, condemned the grenade attack and said in the death of Kibria, the country had lost a dedicated diplomat turned politician. Ruling BNP-backed Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Parishad held a rally in the capital protesting the killing of Kibria. Speakers at the rally said a vested quarter launched the attack in a planned way to destabilise the country's democratic process. M Selim Newaz Chowdhury, publicity secretary of Sylhet Bivag Unnayan Parishad will observe a hunger strike at Muktangon in the city this morning demanding trial and fair international probe to the killing of Kibria.
