UNB, Dhaka
Prime Minister Khaleda Zia yesterday said the killers of former finance minister and Awami League (AL) leader Shah AMS Kibria must be tracked down and severely punished.Speaking on the condolence motion in parliament on Kibria's death, she said the government has already sought foreign assistance to investigate the dastardly attack, track down the real culprits and bring them to justice to stop recurrence of such nefarious acts. "There will be no obstruction or dearth from the government to uncover the painful incident and bring the perpetrators to justice", the prime minister said and sought cooperation of all quarters, including the AL, to dig out the heinous crime. Deploring the absence of the AL MPs from participating in the condolence motion on Kibria, Khaleda said there may be differences of opinion in politics, but the attitude of non-cooperation against such heinous act is not desirable. "It would have been better if we could together pay our tributes to late Kibria in this House today," she said. The prime ministe also deplored that the namaze-janaja of Kibria could not take place at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sansad where the speaker, the leader of the House, leader of the opposition and all members of the parliament could pay their tributes to his mortal remains as per convention. "It is also unfortunate that we could not get the opportunity to visit Kibria's house and express sympathy for the members of the bereaved family, " she said. Finance Minister Saifur Rahman, LGRD and cooperatives Minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan, KM Obaidur Rahman, Jatiya Party leaders Rawshan Ershad and TIM Fazle Rabbi, Jatiya Party leader Anwar Hossain Manju and Krishak Sramik Janata League leader Bangabir Kader Siddiqui took part in the condolence motion.
