Rab

In reference to the recent letters by Imran Khan and Kaushik Biswas regarding Rab operations and related human rights issues, I have got the following to say.

You may wish to look back on days before Rab was launched, people felt so insecure and hopeless that some even talked of finding a way to leave the country. Human rights issues are good pastime talk for Bangladeshis who live abroad and have no idea about what life was like in Bangladesh under Pichi Hannan, Kala Jahangir, etc. Human rights issues are also good talk for a small group of people who have much to lose by way of not getting their share in the absence chandabaazi and shantrash, for such people are now living on run-down budget.

Please ask yourself a question, is Bangladesh the first country to have taken such extreme measures to ensure security for its citizens? Certainly not, proponents of our human rights may not be aware of what is happening in the biggest democracy in the world. Also look back on how the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia have dealt with law and order situation in the past. To put the readers on a more recent track, see how the threat to public safety and security is being addressed in the US and UK, so-called champions of modern democracy.

Bangladesh will certainly be a better place to live in with the terrorists gone.

Well done Rab, keep up your good work, you have given some hope to common people.
