3rd Int'l Festival of Photography begins tomorrow


The third International Festival of Photography, Asia 2004 -- Chobi Mela III -- begins in the city tomorrow to showcase photographs from 17 countries.

Organised by Drik, the festival will be inaugurated at the Alliance Francaise gallery at 4.00pm and continue till December 23.

A total of 1068 photographs will be put on display at seven venues including Goethe Institut, British Council, Drik Gallery, Russian Cultural Centre, Abahani Ground and Muldhara International Centre.

Internationally renowned photographers Pedro Meyer of Mexico, Morten Krogvold of Norway, Tarek Al-Ghoussain of the UAE will attend the inaugural function.

Chobi Mela will also honour four legendary Bangladeshi photographers -- Golam Kashem Daddy, Manzoor Alam Beg, Amanul Haque and Shamsul Alam Almazi -- for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the field of photography.
