Fake army captain held in Sylhet


As fake army captain was arrested from a hotel in Sylhet city in the early hours of Friday.

Some fake rubber stamps and letterhead pads containing monograms of the Army were also recovered from his possession.

Kawsar Ahmed, 30, had rented a room at Hotel Hilltown in the city's Telihaor area on 25 November, introducing himself as Captain Mashafi Farhan Kaisar of Bangla-desh Army.

The hotel authorities suspected wrongdoing as he kept payments since the first day at the hotel. They informed Detective Branch police on Thursday.

The DB quizzed him and suspected that he was impersonating an army officer. Later, DGFI officials also quizzed him and confirmed that he was a fake army officer. The DGFI officials also recovered some fake pads and rubbers in the name of army officials and handed him over to Kotwali police.

Kawsar Ahmed is the son of Abdul Quader of Shoshidal village in Kashba thana in Brahmanbaria district, now residing at Comilla town, police said.
