Tk3.6cr Danish grant for mobile phone messaging services
Denmark has approved Tk 3.6 crore grant for training and technical assistance and loan to procure hardware needed to establish a local provider of value-added mobile messaging services in co-operation with mobile phone companies in Bangladesh. As a part of Danida Private Sector Development (PSD) Programme, Niels Severin Munk, the Danish ambassador to Bangladesh, approved the grant. The technology to be used in the project is a push/pull engine developed by DCE Group A/S, Denmark, and well known in the European market by the name Mobital. The term "push/pull" denotes the way in which users obtain access to content. An SMS is sent (pushed) to the server (engine), asking for a specific piece of content which is then received (pulled) on the mobile phone set. The services for the mobile users in Bangladesh will be provided by the joint venture with equity participation from Denmark and Bangladesh as collaboration between DCE-Data, Denmark, and Dhaka Microsystems Limited, Bangladesh.
