Easy wins for leaders


Three giants -- Leonine, Muktijo-ddha and Biman -- won their respective boards in the tenth round games of the Dutch-Bangla First Division Chess League at the federation hall room yesterday.

Last year runners-up Leonine maintained their solo lead with 37.5 points as the all Grand Master-studded side handed a 4-0 defeat on Narayanganj City Chess Club.

Dao Thein Hai beat Mohammed Sahmim, Iuldashev Saidali beat Enayet Hossain, Nguyen Anh Dung beat Mainuddin Ahmed and Niaz Murshed beat Prasenjit Dutta.

Newcomer Muktijoddha Sang-sad Krira Chakra followed the leader securing 33 points after they scored 3-1 victory over Bangladesh Ansar.

Defending champions Bangla-desh Biman smashed Anushillan Daba KC 4-0 to increase their tally to 32 points for the third slot.

In the other matches, Dhaka University Chess team drew with Titas Club 2-2, Destiny 2000 shared points with Sonali Bank after 2-2 draw, Farashganj Sporting Club drew 2-2 with Uttaradhikari Sangsad, Friends Chess Power beat Rajshahi Daba Unnoyan Sangstha 3.5-0.5 and Star Vision Chess team drew 2-2 with Mohakhali Prodip Sangha.
