Green Delta Hockey
Mohammedan rout Railway

Title aspirants Mohammedan Sporting Club thumped lowly Dhaka Railway 5-0 to continue their winning run in the Green Delta Premier Division Hockey League at the Maulana Bhasani National Stadium yesterday.

After unimpressive victories in their previous two matches, the Motijheel-based outfit flexed their muscles in the third match as their forward-line capitalised on most of the chances in the second half.

The giants could manage only a 1-0 lead before the lemon break when Zahidul Islam Rajon sounded the board in the 16th minute from a penalty corner.

And although Railway's defensive tactics worked fine in the first half, the Black and Whites were just unstoppable in the second.

Mustafizur Rahman Dinar doubled the margin in the 43rd minute from another penalty corner while eight minutes later Ashraful Islam Shishu pushed the third in an open net on a Rajon right side minus to widen the gap.

The fourth goal was a replay of the third one a minute after, but this time Rajon being the scorer.

Shamsuddin sealed the fate of the match in the 60th minute, also from a penalty corner.

Railway got only one chance in the one-sided affair but their Indian recruit Brunu Hadrian's hit narrowly missed the target just after they swallowed their first goal.
