Pepsi music mela from tomorrow

A month-long 'Pepsi music mela' begins tomorrow at Musical Café of Dhaka Billiard Centre (DBC) at Gulshan in the capital.The first ever music festival aims at bringing together singers, lyricists, composers, technical hands, and listeners, organisers said at a press conference yesterday. As many as 15 music companies and institutions including Nazrul Institute, music companies Soundtech, Laser Vision, CMV, Kalatan Audio Vision, CD Sound, Tonatuni Music, Ektar Music, Fahim Music and musical instrument sellers Melody and Co, Omni Music Company will participate in the festival. In the first phase of the fair, there will be display of audio and video cassettes, CDs, VCDs, and musical instruments from December 6 to 15 and in the second phase there will be cultural functions from December 17 to 30. Soft drink producer Pepsi-Cola Ltd will be the title sponsor while The Daily Star and ATN Bangla will act as media partners. The DBC will gradually organise festivals in different districts, sources said. Convenor of the festival committee Ahmed Hassan Shaheen, singer Suvra Dev, Marketing Manager of Pepsi-Cola Golam Murshed and General Manager of Transcom Distributors Khurshid Erfan, among others, spoke at the press conference.
