It appears that DCC mismanagement and unethical practices could be indirectly responsible for cases of fires at irregular intervals in the market, keeping in view the fact that the site is earmarked for construction of an ultra-modern shopping complex for RMG products for foreigners (boost to tourism). The political forces working in the background cannot be ruled out entirely either. I urge the Prime Minister to kindly look into the matter and draw up a workable and transparent project implementation scheme; including insurance coverage. In fact this modern shopping complex has been delayed for far too long, in view of the popularity of Bangabazar. This market is one of our assets for development of the tourism industry in the country.
