An electrical short circuit sparked off the fire that broke out at the office of Lucky Group, a leading garment manufacturer in the port city, on the second floor of Badamtali Shopping Complex at around 7.45am, sources said.

Fire fighters from nearby Fire Brigade Headquarters managed to extinguish the blaze within half an hour.

Md Emdadul Haque, a BNP leader and owner of the group, filed a general diary with the Doublemooring Police Station, claiming that the damage was estimated at around Tk 40 lakh.
