An example for Bangladesh?

Tunisia, where women enjoy a status unparalleled in the Arab world, has launched a female football league with an eye on raising a competitive side for the Beijing Olympics.

The league will comprise 12 teams from throughout the country, said Tunisian football federation chief Hammouda Ben Ammar.

The teams will also battle it out for the Tunisia Cup, the quarter-finals of which will be held on February 26.

Two national female teams, one senior and one under-19, will be established with an eye for qualifying for the 2007 African Nations Cup and the Olympics the following year, Ben Ammar said.

Ben Ammar mentioned no restrictions on male spectators at the all-female games in a country where 25 percent of the working force is made up of women and where 50 percent of students in universities are women.

Football's governing body FIFA has only two female Arab teams listed in its rankings of 117 countries.
