Leonine Chess Club kept a two-point lead in the table halfway through the Dutch-Bangla First Division Chess League at the federation hall-room yesterday.

The all-Grand Master Leonine, who have dropped only two points so far, blanked Rajshahi Daba Unnyan Sangstha 4-0 in the eighth round.

GM Dao Thein Hai beat Prabir Chandra Saha, GM Iuldashev Saidali beat Shibli Noman, GM Nguyen Ann Dung beat Annan Siddique Mithu and local GM Niaz Murshed beat Kawsar Ali.

Newcomers Muktijoddha Sangsad also secured second place with an identical win over Farashganj. They are followed by reigning champions Bangladesh Biman, who are two points behind on 26 points.

For Muktijoddha, IM Vakhidov Tahir beat Chanchal Kumar Ghosh, IM Enamul Hossain Rajib beat Moniruzzaman Khan, FM Khondokar Aminul Islam beat Nure Alam and FM Abu Sufian Shakil beat Souvik Chakraborty.

Biman dropped one point as IWM Rani Hamid lost to Ariful Islam in their 3-1 victory against Dhaka University.

Biman's GM Ziaur Rahman beat Uten, IM Abdullah Al Rakib beat Hasan Imam and Imran Ali Elin beat Dewan Mohammed Riad.

In the day's other matches, Narayanganj CCC beat Sonali Bank 3-1, Titas Club beat Bangladesh Ansar 3-1, Destiny 2000 beat Star Vision 3-1, Friends Chess Power beat Uttaradhikary Sangsad 4-0 and Mohakhali Pradeep Sangha beat Anushilon 2.5-1.5.
