CU body to start work Dec 6

The special committee of Chittagong University (CU) formed to work out a way of cancelling all tampered certificates will finally start working on December 6 through holding a meeting.

The five-member body, which was initially given one month's time for the task, now will have to do it in half the time, as it starts functioning after 15 days.

"We'll make our strategies and finalise a course of action at the first meeting," said Prof Dr M Shamsuddin, new chief of the committee.

"It's difficult to complete the task within 15 days, but we'll try our best," Shamsuddin, also CU pro-vice-chancellor, added.

The CU syndicate formed the committee headed by Prof Dr Md Abdul Hakim on November 9. Following Prof Hakim's resignation from the body, the syndicate appointed Shamsuddin as the new chief on November 30.
