More DU students found having jaundice

Thirty-five out of 282 Dhaka University (DU) students who underwent pathological tests in last two days at the DU Medical Centre were found to be suffering from jaundice.

With the 35, the total number of jaundice affected students of the university exceeded 600, according to the students and doctors.

Students said the water supplied to the dormitories was the source of the epidemic, however the university authorities did not admit this.

The DU authorities have arranged quality foods for the students at the Teachers Students Centre (TSC) cafeteria and science cafeteria and ousted unauthorised shops on the campus.

The Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC), DU contingent has formed a committee with four DU teachers to monitor the overall situation of different dormitories.

The committee members are Dr ABM Obaidul Islam, Mohammad Shahidul Islam, Muhammad Musleyuddin Rana and Hafizuddin Bhuiyan.

The BNCC volunteers are looking after the affected students as well as working to create awareness of the jaundice virus among the students.
