Defence ties with India crucial: Russia

Terming military cooperation with India as a crucial aspect of bilateral relations, Russia has said that Moscow's defence association with New Delhi helps in maintaining stability in the region."Military-technical cooperation between Russia and India helps in maintaining stability on the Indian subcontinent and is a crucial component of the entire range of bilateral relations," Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Yakovenko said on Tuesday. Ahead of President Vladimir Putin's visit to India, Yakovenko said big energy projects like Sakhalin-1 and construction of $2.6 billion Kudankulam nuclear power plant in Tamil Nadu with the Russian assistance are examples of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
