RU controversial appointee held with firearms

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) yesterday arrested a controversially appointed employee of Rajshahi University with two firearms including a US 9mm pistol.The Rab nabbed Khairul Islam, 30, from his house in Dharampur under Motiher Police Station in the city. He is one of the 544 employees, who got controversial appointment, and a worker of examinations controller section. The Rab said Khairul, accused of several criminal charges, is a close associate of local Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal cadre Manowar Hossain Utpal.
