If you spend most of your time experimenting with new recipes, get ready to hone your skills because internationally acclaimed cook Tommy Miah's Institute of Hospitality Management is set to hold a first ever culinary competition in Bangladesh, titled Bangladeshi Chef of the Year Competition 2004. The competition will be held in December 22. If one is good enough in this business, this is a great opportunity to enthrall the judges with one's culinary magic. The winner gets a free ticket to fly to UK.On November 30, the Bangladesh Chapter of International Indian Chef of the Year Competition in UK held a press conference at Tommy's signature restaurant Heritage. Master Chef Tommy Miah, Rubina Farouq, Head of the Institute of Hospitality Management and Rezwan Bin Farouq, Managing Director of Axicom Technologies Ltd. spoke at the occasion. To reward innovation and quality in Asian Cuisine Tommy Miah launched The International Indian Chef of the Year Competition 13 years back. 'There were only 200 participants then. Last year, however, the number exceeded 5000 from around the world,' said Tommy. 'The Bangladesh Chapter was added by a declaration in House of Commons, UK for the coming final competition that will take place on February 25, 2005. One place for the finalist from the Bangladesh Chapter is reserved. This is a golden opportunity to win 1000 pounds at the international competition in Edinburgh,' he added. 'Contestants must be above 18 years. Those who stir up authentic Bangladeshi cookery can participate in the competition. To take part, the entrant must submit recipes for a meal for four persons containing one main dish of meat, fish or poultry and one vegetarian dish. In the final bout on December 22, each participant will get two hours to cook and present the meal on the table and a panel of independent judges will declare the winner's name on the same day,'said Rubina.
