Diversity in Design Theatre's drama festival
Shampan Naiya: A fishermen's tale
Shampan Naiya is a folk tale. The play portrays the lifestyle of the fishermen living at the southeast coast of the country, whose life greatly depends upon the tides of the Bay of Bengal.

Aminur Rahman Mukul's play Shampan Naiya depicts the story of those fishermen, including their joy, sadness and hope. They coexist with manifold conflicts but are not tired of weaving dreams. The protagonist of the play dreams of building an imaginary society where there will be no pathos. But reality is very different.

Today, Uttoradhikar, the theatrical group from Chittagong, presents Shampan Naiya at the Experimental Theatre Stage at 6:30 p.m. as part of the drama festival arranged by Theatre.

Mosleuddin Shikdar directs the play. Ainur Rahman Mukul is the set designer while Nasiruddin is the light designer. Shamima Iasmin Shompa, Tilak Borua, Sajjad Alam and others perform in the play.
