2 get 17 years' RI for keeping illegal arms


The Sylhet divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal has given 17 years' RI to two persons for possessing unauthorised firearms.

They are Shahinuzzaman Shahin, son of Mujahid Ali of Dhoradharpur village in South Surma thana and Golam Rahman Rajon, son of Abdus Sattar of Shaplabag.

According to the prosecution story, police caught them with a foreign pistol at Birahimpur on the Sylhet-Sultanpur road on March 28 while they were going in a motorbike to commit dacoity.

They were also wanted in a number of cases filed with South Surma and Beanibazar police stations, police said.
