Draft law to fight adulterated food okayed

The cabinet yesterday approved the draft of a law to prevent adulteration of food, sale of toxic foodstuffs and cheating in weight. A regular meeting of the cabinet, with Prime Minister Khaleda Zia in the chair, endorsed the draft Bangladesh Pure Food (Amendment) Act 2004. The council of ministers also approved a proposed bilateral memorandum of understanding (MoU) on agricultural affairs to be signed between Bangladesh and China. A report on the implementation of previously approved decisions was submitted to the cabinet at the meeting, held at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). The cabinet was apprised of the progress in implementation of the decisions. Cabinet members and state minister of the ministries concerned attended the meeting. Cabinet secretary, principal secretary and the secretaries concerned were present.
