Bangladesh won't allow its land for anti-Indian campaign
Morshed assures Natwar

Bangladesh yesterday assured that its territory would not be allowed to be used for activities prejudicial to India's interests.The assurance came from visiting Bangladesh Foreign Minister M Morshed Khan during his talks with his Indian counterpart K Natwar Singh on a range of bilateral issues including concerns related to better border management and insurgency. Morshed, now on a three-day visit to India, called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and extended an invitation to attend the 13th Saarc Summit to be held in Dhaka from January 9 to 11. "Bangladesh assured us of its commitment not to allow the use of its territory for activities prejudicial to India's interests," Indian external affairs ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna told reporters after the 45-minute meeting between Morshed and Natwar Singh. "We will continue to engage the Bangladesh government on these issues in order to resolve the problem," he said adding trade-related issues were also discussed in the meeting between the two foreign ministers. The two ministers discussed the preparations for the Dhaka Summit. During his meeting with the prime minister, Morshed conveyed Begun Zia's appreciation of the Indian offer of assistance for flood relief of Rs 100 crore. Khan also had a meeting with leaders of CPI and CPI (M) who conveyed to him India's concerns over northeastern Indian insurgents "taking shelter in Bangladesh and the need for Dhaka to act against them."
