Getting to know 'Dilkhush'
Sabira Manir
There is a thin dividing line between actress Mukti and 'Dilkhush', one of the most popular characters of Ranger Manush. For one, Mukti is as lively as Dilkhush. Secondly, she has the same commitment to her work. Recently she spoke to the cultural correspondent of The Daily Star to share her experiences of Ranger Manush and other projects.Growing up in a cultural environment, Mukti started her career as a dancer and completed her diploma in dance from Bulbul Fine Arts Academy (BAFA). 'As a dancer I always felt a strong link between dancing and acting. Though I longed to act I did not get any scope for that,' says Mukti. How did she get involved in modelling and acting? Mukti says, 'I participated in the Binodon Bichitra Photoshundari in 1999 and stood fifth. Then I got n offer for modelling.' In the modelling world, she has worked with noted ad makers like Tareq Anam, Janesar Osman, Salauddin Lavlu, Shahid Raihan and famous Indian ad maker Amit Sen. As she made her way in the advertising world, she got an offer in a TV drama for Etv. 'It was like a dream come true,' recalls Mukti. Her first appearance was in Nazrul's Agnigiri, directed by Minhajur Rahman. 'After that I acted in a few TV dramas which were aired on several channels but I loved to model as well. Besides this, I did not have that much time to get involved in TV drama because of my studies,' says Mukti. 'But when I got an offer to act in Ranger Manush from Salauddin Lavlu I couldn't resist it. How was she treated in the serial as a new comer? Mukti says, 'It was an unforgettable experience. There was a lot of excitement during the shooting of the serial. ' Mukti is now busy with modeling and acting simultaneously. In future Mukti wishes to work with eminent directors. 'I want to act rather than dance or model,' says Mukti.
