Lawyers boycott court

Patuakhali Bar Association members on Sunday boycotted the Women and Children Repression Prevention Special Court protesting alleged corruption by a judge of the court.Court and bar sources told this correspondent the judge allegedly took bribes in many cases and delivered verdicts. The decision to boycott court was adopted in an emergency meeting held here on Saturday with the Bar Association President Md Eunus Mia in the chair. The bar members urged the Chief Justice to investigate the alleged corruption by January 15 and threatened of tougher action for non-complainace. This correspondent tried to contact the judge on several occasions, but he was not available at his office. His clerk Abdur Razzak said the judge is on two days' leave.
