Sangskritik Jote hands over houses to flood victims

Sammilito Sangskritik Jote, a leading cultural group, has undertaken a post-flood rehabilitation programme.As part of their programme, the Jote leaders on Friday handed over 10 newly-constructed tin-shed houses to 10 distressed families at Bannakhola village in Kushura union of Dhamrai Thana in Dhaka district, according to a press release. Expatriate Bangalees of Canada extended their generous hands is assisting financially in the rehabilitation programme. Local Union Parishad (UP) chairman Abdul Malek presided over the ceremony where Jote president Nasiruddin Yusuf, general secretary Golam Quddus, noted freedom fighter Benzir Ahmed, Jahangir Hossain and Abdul Malek Khokon addressed. Jote leaders distributed tin-shed housed among the shelterless people of Dhaka, Gazipur and Laxmipur districts. Earlier, Sangskritik Jote distributed foodgrains, medicine and orsaline among the flood victims in different districts including Dhaka. The major cultural group is also collecting old clothes from cultural activists, NGOs and expatriates in Canada.
