In separate statements, they demanded punishment to the cadres of the ICS, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, the JCD, student wing of the BNP, and pro-BNP and pro-Jamaat teachers who took part in the attack.

Different student organisations including Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of Awami League, Progatishil Chhatra Jote (PCJ), a combine of left-leaning student organisations, Bangladesh Chhatra Union (BCU) and Samajtantrik Chhatra Front brought out processions and held rallies to condemn the attack.

They demanded immediate removal of RU vice-chancellor, provost of Taposhi Rabeya Hall. They also demanded punishment to ICS and JCD cadres, police and pro-Jamaat and BNP teachers responsible for the attack.

Three hundred and fifteen teachers of Dhaka University and Dhaka University Teachers' Association (Duta) in separate statements demanded compensation for the wounded students and proper security of general students.

Other organisations that condemned the attack included Communist Party of Bangladesh, Workers Party of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, Gono Forum, RU Former Students' Association, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal backed-BCL, Bikalpa Chhatra Dhara, Samyabadi Dal of Bangladesh, Jatiya Chhatra Dhara, Bangladesh Chhatra Moitree, Bangladesh Jubo Moitree, Jatiya Sramik League Mohila Committee, Jatiya Chhatra Samaj, Sammilito Samajik Andolon, Sangjukta Mahila Parishad and Biplobi Chhatra Moitree.
