As many as 248 people were killed last month, said monthly reports of different rights organisations, expressing concern over continuing law and order slide and violation of human rights by law-enforcers.Some rights organisations including Bangladesh Institute of Human Rights (BIHR), Mass-line Media Centre (MMC), DemocracyWatch, Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum (BSAF) and Bureau of Human Rights Bangladesh published the reports yesterday. The BIHR said 275 people were tortured by police and 10 people killed in 'crossfire' with the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in October. Police atrocities on garment workers in Chittagong and students of Rajshahi University (RU) undermined the human rights, the report added. The MMC report said 248 people were killed and 51 women and children were raped last month, while 307 people were tortured by police. The BSAF in its report said 196 children died unnatural deaths and nine more were acidburnt.
