BNP men ransack civil surgeon's house

Unruly BNP men ransacked the house of the civil surgeon last night as he did not comply with their request to appoint their candidates.

A group of BNP men numbering 15 to 20 entered the house of the civil surgeon of Rangpur at 7:30pm and ransacked his rooms after they failed to get him, eyewitnesses said.

The civil surgeon's office invited applications for the posts of 54 third class and fourth class employees at eight upazilla health complexes in the district.

The BNP men told him to appoint their candidates to the posts for which a large number of applications were submitted, the civil surgeon Zoynal Abedin said.

On the basis of viva voce test held on October 26, 27, and 28, appointments were made.

The BNP men whose candidates could not qualify in the viva voce test ransacked his house, said the civil surgeon.

His wife Rezina Akhter Rekha lodged a case with Rangpur Kotwali Police Station in this connection.
