Jhalakathi boy breaks his captivity in city


A schoolboy from Jhalakathi broke his captivity at Khilgaon in the capital yesterday three months into his abduction, leading to the arrest of the alleged abductor, a former ward commissioner of Dhaka City Corporation (DCC).

Both Sorowar Hossain, former commissionez of DCC ward No. 37, and the abluctee, Ranajit Malakar, were kept in the custody of Khilgaon police last night.

Police said they would hand over Ranajit to his parents after verifying the incident.

Son of Rabi Malakar of Kathalia area in Jhalakathi, Ranajit freed himself around 9:00am yesterday when Sorwar's wife went for shopping leaving her husband sleeping at their rented house.
