Witnesses said both sides stood face to face with heavy firearms spreading panic in the area and prompting people to run for safety. Export-import activities through the land port ere disrupted for more than an hour.

However, Border Security Force (BSF) of India agreed to hold a flag meeting that calmed the situation.

BDR Local Commander Abul Kalam at the meeting explained to the BSF that the small house was meant to serve as a locker. But his counterpart PK Patil insisted that the construction violated border laws.

The meeting decided to defer the construction until a higher level meeting between the sides.

The BDR alleged the BSF is currently trying to create tension on the border on flimsy grounds.
