Folk Music
The frenzied head banging of the boyatis (the mystical singers of the rural Bengal), the irresistible tunes of ektara, dotara, dholok, khanjani with Lalon, marfoti, murshidi, bhatiyali, bhawaiya and Hason Raja's songs created an ecstatic environ at the National Art Gallery Plaza of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on October 3. This was the second day of a two-day programme, jointly organised by UNESCO Bangladesh and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.Apart from the group performances, solos by famous singers like Farida Parveen, Akramul Islam, Kiran Chandra Roy dazzled the audience. Other performers were Abdul Quddus Boyati, Bakul Boyati, Jamal Dewan, Sunil Karmakar, Alam Sarkar, Khorshed Alamgir, Zakir Hossain Aakher, Naju Akhter, Sanjay Pandey, Babul Dewan and Alam Dewan.
