Anima Rani, 54, and Joydev Bachhar, 10, of Shovnali village in Assassuni died in a wall collapse during the storm that also damaged over 100 houses and educational institutions in the three upazilas.

In Kaliganj, the tornado hit Bajargram, Chhanka and adjoining villages injuring two people including a 12-year-old boy named Jagannat Das of Bajargram village.

In Shyamnagar upazila, the storm lashed several villages including Chaltebari and injured four people and damaged over 50 houses.

Meanwhile, heavy downpour yesterday swamped low-lying areas in the district intensifying miseries of the flood affected people in Kalaroa, Tala and Sadar upazilas.
