Sea rough again

The Bay has become rough again, making fishing impossible.

The situation will continue three or four days, weathermen at Kalapara Meteorological Office said yesterday.

Reports received from Kuakata, Sonatala, Kalapara and Patharghata in Patuakhali and Barguna districts, and Mohipur and Alipur in Barisal said most of the fishermen have anchored their trawlers in safe places. Fishermen said strong wind has whipped up 8 to 10 waves in the sea.

The news has created panic among relatives of the fishermen who are yet to reach shores.

Some fishermen feared that the trawlers yet to return from deep sea might have sunk.

Supply of fishes including hilsha to wholesale markets in Barisal declined sharply due to the rough sea, traders said.
