BD-Scot game nicely set

Bangladesh's second warm-up match against Scotland was evenly poised after the home side reached 172 for three after 35 overs at The Grange in Edinburgh yesterday.

Earlier, put into bat by Scotland captain Craig Wright, Bangladesh amassed 259 for six in 50 overs as young batsman Aftab Ahmed found form during a blazing 80 after some abortive efforts.

Last-moment inclusion Faisal Hossain, who replaced injured Bangladesh captain Habibul Bashar, also utilised the opportunity of playing his first match of the tour by hammering 55.

Nafees Iqbal, centurion in the first practice match against Ireland, was the other notable scorer with 42. Opener Mohammed Ashraful added 20. Tapash Baisya remained not out 20 and Mohammad Rafique was unbeaten on 17.

The Bangladesh think-tank rested all-rounder Khaled Mahmud and senior opener Javed Omar for the second match against the Scots.

The Tigers, who have won their first three matches, are expected to play two practice matches against USA and United Yorkshire Eleven as part of their build up for the ICC Champions Trophy in England.
