Probe body enlists 17 as witnesses


The judicial enquiry commission formed to probe the August 21 carnage recorded 17 people as witnesses to the blasts until yesterday, the last day for enlisting names.

An official said the commission will ask the enlisted witnesses to come forward with information at its office at 2/A, Circuit House Road, Kakrail to officially record their statements.

Justice Md Joynul Abedin, head of the one-member commission, yesterday went through the statements the commission has gathered so far all day long.

He also visited Rajarbagh Police Hospital in the evening and interviewed some wounded policemen and witnesses to recorded their statements.

However, despite repeated efforts, the commission is yet to get an appointment with Leader of the Opposition and AL President Sheikh Hasina, the official said asking not to be named.
