Rapist gets life in Gaibandha

A rapist was sentenced to life term rigorous imprisonment (RI) in absentia by Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Court here on August 29.Judge A M M Sayeed handed down the punishment to Wahedul Huq of Dah Dakhin Sreepur village in Sunderganj upazila and fined him Tk 10,000. On March 20, 2002, the criminal broke open the victim's room at the same village at midnight and raped her. He also threatened her not to disclose the matter to anybody. Meantime, the victim became pregnant after rape.
