Razzak undergoes surgery in India

Doctors of Apollo Hospital in New Delhi examined the health of Awami League (AL) leaders, who were injured in August 21 grenade attacks.The health of AL presidium member Abdur Razzak improved slightly as he underwent his first surgery at the hospital. Presidium member Suranjit Sen Gupta was under intensive observation after doctors had conducted some medical tests, says an AL press release. Doctors X-rayed both the legs of another AL leader Obaidul Quader, who will undergo surgery after carrying out other medical tests. AL leaders AFM Bahauddin Nasim, major general (retd) Tarek Siddique, Mamtaz Hossain, Enamul Haque Shamim, Ajoy Kar Khokan, Nazrul Islam Babu, Nasima Ferdousi, Sahabuddin Farazi and Bahar Mia have gone for medical check-up. The health of another AL leader, Neela Chowdhury, who is receiving treatment at city's Shamorita Hospital, meanwhile, is not improving. Doctors yesterday said removal of all the splinters from her body is not possible and suggested her to undergo treatment abroad. However, Neela told The Daily Star last night that her passport was sent to the AL office yesterday, as the party considers sending her abroad.
