Norwegian family mugged in city

Four armed muggers yesterday robbed a Norwegian family of Tk 12,000 and two mobile phones at gunpoint on Kemal Ataturk Avenue in Dhaka.

The incident took place when Ms Anders Largen along with her two children and another companion came out of a Hall Mark Card Shop at about 5:30pm. The waylaying muggers pointed firearms at the two women and two children and snatched away the money and mobiles phones.

Ms Lagen wife of Anders Largen and her two children were mugged on the second day of their visit to Bangladesh. Anders Largen recently joined GrameenPhone on behalf of Telenor as a specialist in Sales & Marketing. Telenor is one of the largest direct foreign investors in Bangladesh.

The incident has roused a sense of insecurity among the expatriate families in Dhaka.

A case was filed with Gulshan Police Station in this connection.
