Indignation and condemnation

The whole country has been numbed by the grenade blasts at the Awami League meeting on 21st August which killed 20 persons including one top leader of the AL. The narrow escape of the leader of the opposition in the parliament, Sheikh Hasina, was indeed miraculous. This unprecedented grenade attack not only showed the lackadaisical performance of the law enforcing agencies, but also their helplessness vis-à-vis the outlaws. The fury of indignation and international condemnation has already disgraced the government.

The more astonishing thing which has scarred my conscience is that this incident got no importance in the BTV news.

Now the government must ensure that a fair investigation into the incident is carried out and the culprits nabbed. The parties concerned must refrain from indulging in amateurish guess works which will only blur the scene. They should also refrain from blaming each other which will serve the purpose of the killers. We must unite and resist them in order to ward off social tension and insecurity. It is a sacred duty that must be performed with a sense of dedication.
