Tk 87.60 cr project for sustainable water management


An agreement for implementation of the project titled "Integrated Planning for Sustainable Water Management (IPSWAM)" under the Ministry of Water Resources was signed yesterday, says an official handout.

Secretary of Economic Relations Division under Ministry of Finance Mirza Tasadduq Hossain Beg and Ambassador of the Netherlands to Bangladesh Kees Beemsterboer signed the agreement on behalf of their respective governments.

Estimated cost of the project is Tk 87.60 crore, of which Netherlands government will provide Tk 61.81 crore as grant and Bangladesh government will provide Tk 25.25 crore in the project.

The Netherlands contribution will be given in the form of technical assistance and financial assistance.

The grant will be utilised for institution building such as organizing Water Management Organisations (WMOs) and strengthening the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) and constructing and maintaining physical infrastructures through 9 schemes.
