Abu Sayeed, 25, who came from Borhanuddin, Bhola, checked in Hotel Ashok at Fakirapool on Monday evening. He was due to receive his cousin at the airport yesterday.

At around 6:00am, Sayeed heard somebody knocking at the door of his room. As soon as he opened the door, three men stormed into the room and took away money and the cell phone at gunpoint.

The gang also fired at him before fleeing the hotel as he raised an alarm.

With a bullet wound in his left hand, Sayeed was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later shifted to orthopaedic hospital.
